Our story is kind of hilarious, in my opinion. As most of you know, Andrew and I did not attend the same college. I went to the esteemed Texas Christian University, while Andrew went to Baylor University. So the question remains—how did Andrew and I meet? Answer: Kyle Brown (and Snapchat, if we're honest, haha).
Never in a million years did I think one of my best friends from middle school would introduce me to the love of my life. Kyle and I grew up together, living down the street from each other and attending the same middle school for four years. When we went separate ways for high school and eventually college, we always kept up with each other.
One day, I was chatting with Kyle via Snapchat (a social media app), and this cute blonde boy was in the picture Kyle had sent me. I instantly thought he was so cute, so I asked Kyle, "Um, Kyle, who is that? He is so cute". Kyle responded, "Uh, Kate, that's my roommate. Did you not know that?". Naturally, I responded with, "UM, NO! Why didn't you tell me you had a cute roommate?!" Kyle just shrugged and proceeded to send Andrew's username so we could connect. What I didn't know was that Kyle sent Andrew my username as well, so we ended up adding each other on Snapchat simultaneously. That was November 2021.
A month later, in December, Andrew and I finally met in person after chatting through Facetime. I finished finals, so I thought driving down from Fort Worth to see him in person in the enemy territory of Baylor was perfect timing. The moment I saw him, I was utterly speechless. I just knew right then that this would be something so incredibly special. Our day was spent at the Magnolia coffee shop, where we talked for about five hours. We closed down the shop, which we both take immense pride in. Finally, it was time for me to drive back to Dallas. Andrew walked me to my car, and he ever so sweetly tried to kiss me. Sadly, Andrew didn't seem to know that I was EXCEPTIONALLY nervous about our first kiss, so I dodged him abruptly. He chuckled, and to this day, he still brings it up. Fast forward to the next day, Andrew was driving back to Charleston to go home for winter break, but he decided to make a pit stop in Dallas to see me. Dallas was not on his way:). We had breakfast at First Watch, and when he walked me to my car and tried to kiss me again, I let it happen:). And damn, if it wasn't the best kiss I ever had! He asked me to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history!
We cannot wait to spend our days together as a house divided on college game day, closing down coffee shops, or eating a delicious brunch. We cannot thank everyone who has supported us enough! Andrew and I are so excited to start our lives together, finally in the same city. Thank you for coming!
